Walking Group Leader Award

Adventure Expeditions in association with Brian Dent can offer training and assessments for the Walking Group Leader Award.

This is an award for those seeking to lead groups...

•   In open, uncultivated, non mountainous high or remote country known as upland, moor, bog, fell, hill or down.
•   In areas enclosed by well defined geographical or man made boundaries such as classified roads.
•   In areas of remoteness that are easily exited in a few hours, returning to a refuge or an accessible road.
•   In areas where movement on steep rocky terrain is not required.

Prior to attending a course candidates must register on to the WGL scheme by contacting the MLTE (tel:01690 720313 or email via www.mlte.org

WGL Training £180
Before attending a training course candidates must...

•   Have registerd with MLTE
•   Have logged at least 20 hill walking days

Any candidate who has completed ML training is exempt from WGL training and can attend a WGL assessment course.

WGL Assessment £195
Prior to attending a training course candidates must...

•   Be 18 years of age
•   Have experience of an absolute minimum of 40 quality hill walking days
•   Have completed a WGL training course or successfully gained exemtion from training
•   Hold a valid first aid certificate.

Both training and Assessment courses are run over a three day period and could include one night camping. Courses are planned throughout the year in South Wales and Dartmoor.

Courses can be arranged for groups and organisations on request.

All courses are residential (self catering) transport is not provided.

All candidates are expected to have a majority of their own equipment.
